Two or three strengths, with the experience behind them. Filled from your resume summary when you start from the resume builder.
A specific result with a number, such as time saved or users served.
What draws you to them: their product, customers or mission.

Fill in the form and the cover letter appears here, ready to edit.

  • Your full name: this is needed.
  • Your email and phone: this is needed.
  • Job title you are applying for: this is needed.
  • Company name: this is needed.
  • Why you fit the role: this is needed.
  • Date of the letter: choose a date.

What makes a cover letter work

  • Write one for each job: name the role and the company, and say why them.
  • Lead with two or three strengths that match the job description, and one result with a number.
  • Keep it to about 250–350 words, on one page, in the same name and contact details as your resume.

Send it as a PDF unless the application asks for something else. Start from your resume in the resume builder to fill in your details, or check the resume itself with the resume checker.

Every paragraph in the preview can be edited or removed before you download, so the letter says what you mean rather than what a template assumes. The PDF is made in your browser. Other documents: cover letter, resignation letter, experience letter, relieving letter, offer letter, no objection certificate, rent agreement, affidavit.

A draft for you to review and personalise for each job. It is made in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded.

About Cover Letter Generator

A cover letter is a short letter sent with your resume that tells one employer why you want this job and why you fit it. Recruiters skim it in seconds, so the useful ones are specific: they name the role and the company, connect two or three of your strengths to what the job asks for, and point to one result with a number.

This generator writes that structure for you: your name and contact details at the top, the date, the hiring manager and company, a subject line, an opening that names the role (and where you found it), a paragraph on why you fit, an optional result and an optional paragraph on why this company, and a closing with your availability. Every paragraph can be reworded or removed in the preview, and the PDF keeps names, the rupee sign and other characters as typed.

Start from the resume builder to fill in your name, contact line, summary and best result automatically, then tailor the letter to the job.

How to use it

  1. Choose “Write a cover letter” in the resume builder, or fill in your name and contact details here.
  2. Enter the job title and company, and the hiring manager’s name if you know it.
  3. Write why you fit the role, then add a result and why this company if you like.
  4. Read the letter in the preview and reword or remove any paragraph.
  5. Copy the text into an application form, or download the PDF.

Good for

  • Applying to a job that asks for a cover letter or a covering note.
  • A fresher application, highlighting projects, internships and skills.
  • Pasting a short covering message into a job portal or an email.

Limits and privacy

  • Write a new letter for each job; a generic one is easy to spot.
  • Government, PSU and some school applications set their own format. Use theirs when they do.
  • Nothing you type is uploaded. The draft is kept on this device only if you choose “Keep this draft on this device”.
