Using this site

By using kerneltools.dev you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or use the site with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

What the tools do

The tools are provided free of charge, as they are. Each tool’s page describes what it does and its limits, such as file size, supported formats and features that are not preserved. Please read those notes before relying on a result. We may add, change, pause for maintenance or remove tools at any time.

Your files and content

You keep all rights to the files, text and figures you use with the tools. Most tools process them only in your browser, so we never receive them. Where a feature does send data to our servers, its page and the privacy policy say so.

You are responsible for having the right to use the files you process, and for checking every output before you share, submit or sign it. Keep your originals; we cannot recover a file that was processed in your browser.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site to:

  • create false or misleading documents, such as fake salary slips, rent receipts, letters, invoices or affidavits, or use anyone else’s signature without permission;
  • open, unlock or edit documents you are not authorised to access;
  • break the law, infringe someone’s copyright or privacy, or harass anyone;
  • share malware, illegal content or content that exploits children through any shared link;
  • overload, probe or attack the site, its proxy or its APIs, or bypass rate limits and human verification;
  • click our ads yourself or encourage others to, or send automated traffic.

We may block access, remove shared content or end shared links that break these rules.

Shared links and server features

Some features create links that other people can open: Kernel Split groups, group polls, shared lists, event invites, live location sessions, one-time secret links and multi-signer sign requests. Anyone who has a link can use it, so share links only with the people you mean to. These features keep data only for the periods described in the privacy policy and may delete it after that.

Calculators and documents are not advice

Finance and tax calculators give estimates based on the rules and inputs they show. They are not financial, tax, investment or legal advice, and banks, fund houses and tax authorities may calculate differently. Document generators produce formats for you to complete with true details; you are responsible for their content and for using them lawfully. Visible signatures added with our tools are not certificate-based digital signatures.

Advertising and sponsors

Some pages show Google ads and sponsor banners, labelled as such. We do not endorse advertised products, and your dealings with advertisers are between you and them. Sponsor bookings made through the Advertise page are reviewed before they appear, and we may decline or remove any ad.

Extensions and Kernel Business

The Kernel DevTools browser extension is also subject to the terms of the store you install it from. Kernel Business, the paid business suite, has its own subscription terms, which apply to it in addition to these.

No warranty

The site and tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that they will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Conversions, compression, OCR and comparisons can lose or misread content.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the free tools. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to the site and these terms

We may update these terms when the site changes. The new version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
