How FD maturity is calculated
For a cumulative FD, interest is added back to the deposit each period: A = P × (1 + r/k)k × t, where r is the annual rate, k the compounding periods per year (4 for quarterly, which most Indian banks use) and t the tenure in years.
For a non-cumulative FD, interest is paid out to your account instead, and you get the deposit back at maturity. Some banks use simple interest for very short deposits, and FD interest is taxable, with TDS if it crosses the yearly limit. Check your bank's terms.
Estimates only, not financial advice. Your bank's or fund's actual figures can differ (rounding, fees, taxes, date conventions). Calculated in your browser; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
