Paste text on both sides to compare.
How to compare two texts
- Paste the earlier version on the left and the later version on the right.
- Read the result: removed lines are marked with −, added lines with +, and inside a changed line the words that differ are highlighted.
- Switch to “One list” for a narrow screen, or tick “Show only changed lines” for a long document.
What the options do
- Ignore upper and lower case
- Treats “Total” and “total” as the same line.
- Ignore spacing differences
- Treats lines as the same when they differ only in spaces, tabs or indentation. Useful for code that has been re-indented.
- Show only changed lines
- Hides the lines that are the same on both sides.
How are the differences found?
The texts are compared line by line to find the smallest set of additions and removals that turns one into the other, the same approach version-control tools use. When a removed line sits next to an added one, they are shown as one changed line and compared again word by word.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The comparison runs in your browser tab. Neither text is sent to a server or stored, and this page loads no ads.
