How to play

Each word names a colour but is printed in a colour that may differ. Answer with the ink colour as many times as you can in 45 seconds.

Why it is hardReading is automatic, so the word pulls you toward the wrong answer. Holding that back is called inhibition, and the slowdown you feel is the Stroop effect, first measured in 1935.
The mixAbout three trials in four are mismatched (word and ink differ); the rest match, so you can't simply answer "not the word".
Colour visionThis game is built on telling ink colours apart. The four inks were chosen to stay as distinct as possible for common colour-vision differences, but red–green confusion can still make it unfair.
