How to play

A square lights up, one position at a time. Press Match whenever it is in the same place as N steps earlier. Start at 1-back and move up when you pass with 80% or better.

The taskEach trial lights one of nine squares for a moment. Press Match when it is the same square as N trials earlier. About a third of trials are matches; the first N can never be.
ScoringAccuracy counts both pressing on matches and holding off on non-matches. 80% or better is a pass, and passes count toward your best (highest level, then accuracy).
Honest noteN-back is a standard working-memory exercise. Practice makes you better at N-back; evidence that it raises general intelligence is weak.
